New transatlantic carrier Norse Atlantic Airways won’t operate its full fleet until the 2025 summer season, at the earliest.
Norse has agreed to extend existing subleasing agreements for four of its 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The sublease on three 787-8s have been extended by up to a year meaning they will be redelivered to Norse between the end of March 2025 and end of May 2025.
In addition, it has also agreed to sublease one 787-9 by a further two months. The aircraft will return to Norse in early May ahead of the summer season.
Norse said the agreement would boost total profits from the subleasing agreements.
Norse has stressed all 15 of its Dreamliners were secured on long-term flexible leases at the height of the pandemic "at historical low prices", which are fixed for the full duration of their leases with no inflationary clauses.
"This extension to the sublease agreements for four of our Dreamliner aircraft provides a further opportunity to increase secured total cash profit during the lease period," said Norse founder and chief executive Bjorn Tore Larsen.
"Our strategy is to grow at a steady pace in line with market demand. We intend to operate 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft during our summer 2024 season and we look forward to building up to a fully operational fleet of 15 aircraft in 2025."
