Innovations like the scrapping of credit card fees have been cited as reasons why Riviera Travel was chosen as the Which? Best Travel Brand of the Year.
Speaking exclusively to TTG, Riviera’s chief executive David Clemson hinted that the brand also had new products “up its sleeve”.
“Our river cruise programme is growing and our touring programme undergoes continuous development,” he said. “We’ll be expanding our solos range in the next few months, for example.”
Winners for the Which? Awards 2017 were chosen by a panel, based on independent research and testing, as well as the views of Which? members and the general public. Brands cannot put themselves forward.
Clemson said the company was “delighted” to have won the travel category, highlighting Riviera’s “consumer-friendliness” as a likely contributing factor.
“We know consumers are happy that we are eliminating credit card fees from August,” he said. “We felt that was the right thing to do by the consumer.
“People absolutely recognise Which? as a mark of quality, and we’ll definitely be shouting about this.”
Indeed, Riviera has already updated its Twitter profile with the Which? Awards 2017 logo.
Clemson continued: “This is all about the culture of the business and how our team views the customer. We are in an age where sometimes that aspect gets forgotten about.
“For over 30 years we’ve put the customer at the heart of everything we do.”
