Mark Walter, head of UK sales at Hurtigruten, shares his musings on the cruise line’s expanded Galapagos offering
“In the six years I’ve been with Hurtigruten, few things have excited me more than when we launched our expedition cruises around the Galapagos Islands on 7 January 2021. This marked the departure of our first-ever expedition in this area and I was thrilled to learn that it was a huge success.
“We have now more than doubled our Galapagos offering by adding three new itineraries for 2023 and 2024. Your clients can choose from four different small-ship expedition cruises, ranging from four to eight nights and covering the full span of the remote archipelago that’s commonly considered one of the most unique places on Earth – and the best place to discover a huge range of incredible wildlife.
“Our cruises to the Galapagos Islands are on our newly upgraded ship, Santa Cruz II. We were very excited to welcome her to our fleet as she’s custom built for small-ship exploration, with only 50 cabins and suites.
“The addition of the Galapagos Islands to our ever-expanding portfolio marked the first of many new warm-water destinations. Our brand-new itineraries to West Africa and the Bissagos Islands, which launched shortly after the Galapagos, were equally exciting.
“Despite us often being thought of as a cold-water destination specialist, we are proud to offer incredible adventures all over the globe, and we can’t wait to welcome you and your clients onboard soon!”
