Sri Lanka has introduced electronic immigration forms, meaning the entire visa and entry process is now online.
The UK FCDO has confirmed the change to an online application process.
Speaking from the country’s capital Colombo, Neil Dobbs, owner of specialist Sri Lanka agency Travel Gallery, said: “They have been trialling it as an immigration and emigration card, I have used it. It’s replaced the necessity for a bit of paper that we used to send out to clients. It can be done within three days of travel.”
UK visitors still need to apply online for the $50 Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the country, although visa on arrival is also possible. Tourist visas are valid for 30 days.
In addition, entry rules stipulate UK passports must be valid for six months from date of arrival.
