The Newt, a hotel and spa based in a former Georgian country home in Somerset, has revealed its opening date will be 29 August.
The development has been led by The Newt’s creative director Karen Roos, who is also the owner of Babylonstoren hotel and winery in South Africa.
The 23-room hotel is spread across the Grade II-listed Hadspen House and its neighbouring Stable Yard, and also features acres of formal gardens.
The hotel’s facilities include a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, plus gym and restaurant offering a “garden-led” menu.
Hadspen House is home to 13 of The Newt’s rooms, while the other 10 are in the Stable Yard including four with kitchen facilities.
The spa is promising international treatments with an “English country feel” and includes a private couples’ chamber, as well as halotherapy room and “wild pool”.
The Newt, which is a working country estate located between Bruton and Castle Cary, has now launched its website and is open for bookings.
