The Travel Network Group will host two Israel fams later this year after its plans to run the trips were postponed due to the pandemic.
The trips to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem will take place over 8-11 September and 15-18 September. They will be the first overseas fam trips TTNG has hosted for its members since the start of the pandemic.
The consortium said the 50 available spaces on the trips were snapped up within a couple of hours, with its events team now exploring options to host an ever bigger fam trip for interested members.
Both trips will include accommodation, while activities will include a historic walking tour of Jerusalem, wine tasting and several culinary experiences.
Israel’s ministry of tourism is assisting TTNG with the coordination of the two trips, which will be attended by some of the consortium’s senior figures.
Gary Lewis, TTNG chief executive, said: “We’ve been very mindful that all travel businesses, including our members, needed a recovery period following the pandemic to slowly transition from protect-and-survive mode to business-as-usual practice.”
He added the TTNG team was confident September was the “perfect time” for the trip. “We’re incredibly humbled by the support shown by our members and the quick take-up of the places, showing the excitement to experience the rich culture Israel has to offer," said Lewis.
“We encourage any members still eager to join the trips to register their interest as soon as possible, while we look to expand spaces; should we still be oversubscribed, the additional places will be allocated to members through a draw.”
Sharon Ehrlich Bershadsky, director of the Israel Government Tourist Office in London, added she was delighted the trips could now take place, now that the country has dropped its Covid entry restrictions.
“We’re very excited to share all that Tel Aviv and Jerusalem have to offer, enabling a unique and diverse experience set against a beautiful backdrop, full of sunshine,” she said. “We look forward to welcoming everyone soon.”
