The Travel Village Group is set to launch a new work abroad initiative for staff, to make scheduling holidays with partners and families easier.
Chief executive Phil Nuttall revealed the news at the agency’s annual conference on 27-30 May on board MSC Virtuosa. He said agents would be invited to approach the senior team with a business proposal containing the time they wanted away and when they planned to work.
Nuttall said the team recognised that sometimes couples or families could not align schedules when it came to booking annual leave.
“We’re saying why don’t you go on holiday or away with your loved ones, give us a business case and you can work while you’re abroad,” Nuttall told TTG.
“You’re not using any holidays up, you could work 7am to 1pm or 8am to 2pm. We thought this would be a really good compromise.”
Nuttall stressed that staff still needed to be “business-minded” and that this wasn’t an “excuse for a jolly”.
He said: "It’s not a holiday but it’s a great way of facilitating families being together."
