The new series Territory premiered on Netflix 24 October 2024, showcasing iconic destinations across the NT’s Top End.

Tourism Northern Territory (TNT) is encouraging travel agents to leverage the show to inspire clients to book outback adventures in Australia’s Top End.

Filmed across some of the country’s most epic landscapes in the NT, the six part series follows a family’s fight for power in the Australian outback.

Netflix’s big-budget series Territory is the largest and most ambitious screen project undertaken in the NT yet and is set to hook viewers with its dramatic storyline and landscapes to match. The contemporary-western was filmed on location in the NT on a real-life cattle station, Tipperary Station.

Beyond the cattle stations, even more of the NT is brought to life. Viewers are taken on a journey with jaw-dropping landscape shots of the dual UNESCO World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. Filming was made possible thanks to the Traditional Owners – the Nadji family, Buntji Clan of Hawk Dreaming and the Djabulukga Association, with the support of Parks Australia.

Kakadu is also the setting for the series’ opening and closing episodic moments; a beautiful way to highlight this sacred and ancient part of the NT. As well as Kakadu, the Northern Territory’s iconic Litchfield National Park and Berry Springs, both just an hour from Darwin, also feature throughout.

TNT Executive Director, Tony Quarmby said, “productions such as Territory is one of the best ways to showcase a holiday destination to an extensive global audience, through the drama and excitement generated in the storyline it creates awareness and inspiration to travel to the epic locations, while a mix of real experiences are then made available for audiences to enjoy in real life.”

Travel agents can book clients looking to follow in the shows footsteps on a wild west experience as the NT is home to several ranches, including:

Finniss River Lodge
Katherine Outback Experience
Bullo River Station
Bamurru Plains
