Thomas Cook’s Chinese owner is reportedly in talks to sell the famous British holiday brand to a Polish travel agency.
According to Sky News, Fosun Tourism Group is in advanced negotiations to sell Thomas Cook to eSky, which is majority-owned by MCI Capital – a private equity firm focused on central and eastern Europe.
If the deal goes ahead, Thomas Cook would change ownership for the second time since its collapse in 2019.
The Chinese company, which also owns Club Med, was previously said to be in discussions with several potential suitors for the Cook brand last year.
Fosun acquired the brand for just £11 million shortly after Cook’s collapse and subsequently relaunched the brand as an online travel agency.
Thomas Cook declined to comment about the talks when approached by TTG.
