Royal Caribbean International has pulled all calls to its private resort Labadee in Haiti until the end of April amid an escalation of violence in the country’s capital.
The line initially suspended Labadee calls until 22 March, but it has made more itinerary adjustments until May at the latest following reports of fresh fighting in Port-au-Prince.
Symphony of the Seas, Independence of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas have all had their upcoming Caribbean sailings changed to avoid Labadee.
Royal’s private resort Labadee – located 200 kilometres north of the Haitian capital – has been replaced with stop-offs in Jamaican port Falmouth, the line’s private island Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bimini, Philipsburg, or sea days.
A Royal spokesperson said the line would continue to monitor the situation on the ground and would communicate updates with customers directly.
The Foreign Office currently advises against all travel to Haiti because of gang-related violence in Port-au-Prince.
The US, meanwhile, has started to evacuate its citizens out of Haiti by helicopter.
