A resort set in the largest safari reserve outside Africa will mark LUX Resorts’ debut in the United Arab Emirates.
LUX Resorts’ parent company The Lux Collective is to undertake two projects in Sharjah, with Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, both to open in 2023.
LUX Al Bridi Resort will be a camp with 35 luxury tents, inside Al Bridi Nature Reserve – a recently announced conservation area covering 1,690 hectares.
The safari reserve will be home to up to 50,000 animals, including Africa’s Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo) alongside hundreds of other African and local species.
LUX Al Bridi Resort will offer a LUX Me spa, a conservation discovery centre, a petting zoo, and a giraffe-interaction deck.
Lux Collective CEO, Paul Jones, told TTG@WTM: “Guests are going to be able to get closer to the Big Five than they might be able to in Africa, and we’re keen to create safe interaction with the giraffes, for example.”
LUX Al Jabal Resort, meanwhile, will be a hillside resort overlooking the Gulf of Oman set in 18 hectares of land, with 45 rooms and suites. The resort will have a private beach, spa and children’s facilities, and will offer immersive local culture experiences.
“The site is stunning, with hills rolling down onto the beach and the spa will sit at the very highest point,” said Jones. “We want people to feel that they can come and really connect with nature and their surroundings.”
